CHRISTIAN GUN OWNER: A person who is first, a believer in Christ, and His death, burial and resurrection. A person whose life, school, work, play, and service to God and other people reflects that faith.

This person as a gun owner is thankful for the second amendment to the constitution of the U.S. This person acknowledges their responsibility to learn to safely and effectively operate and use their gun(s).

This Christian gun owner is a person with no desire to harm anyone, but with an understanding of the obligation to take responsibility for their safety and that of their family and friends.

NOTE: This is written from a particularly American point of view (the reference to the U.S. Constitution). It is acknowledged and greatly valued, that brothers and sisters in Christ who are gun owners populate the entire globe.

BIBLE: The Word of God.

A historical and instructional book inspired by God, penned by man. The Bible was written over a 1500 year period, by over 40 different authors. It was written on 3 continents by these authors who lived in varying places and at different times. Many of them never knew each other.

The Bible is not written in chronological order but when read from beginning to end; it follows one theme from front to back. It tells the story of the creation of man, man’s fall from favor with God, God’s plan for redemption, and finally the purpose of the death and resurrection of Christ.

Giving all people the opportunity to regain relationship with God and have their sins once for all time forgiven . For the Christian, the Bible shapes his/her view of the world and how it operates. It reveals that mankind is eternal and will live on after physical death in one of two states of being.

All who Biblically accept Christ as Lord and Savior will live eternally in the presence of God. Or they will live in an eternity of separation from God for rejection of Christ.

MORALITY: To a Christian, morality is not situational but absolute. The Ten Commandments provide the foundation for the understanding of morality. The exhortations and commands of Christ, later written in the New Testament further extend on living a morally upright life as Christians, in the sight of God.

MARRIAGE: A spiritual, physical and legal, lifetime commitment between a man and woman. That commitment includes the promise to be true and faithful to one another, not only sexually, but in intimacy in all areas of life.

SELF DEFENSE: The absolute necessity to, by force of violence, protects oneself or others from great bodily harm or death at the hands of someone who will not abide by the rules of a civilized society. Generally self defense for a Christian will be exercised when assaulted or gravely threatened by a criminal who is intent on robbing, raping, or killing them.

Not to be confused with “turning the other cheek”. That statement of Jesus referred to persecution for His name’s sake and referred to less than lethal force.

Self defense is for a criminal not interested in a Christian’s object of faith, but only in harming them for personal gain. The Christian gun owner understands the human right to defend oneself, and their gun as a constitutionally granted tool for self defense.

FORGIVENESS: Is not “forgetting” about a wrong done. It is making it spiritually, mentally and emotionally as irrelevant as if it had never happened.

LOVE: Not to be confused with or necessarily interactive with “liking” someone.

Described Biblically like this:

1Co 13:4-7 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

This means a consideration of people that result in the above reaction to them. It has to do more with a love for Christ than any emotional “feeling” towards someone.

STUPID / STUPIDITY: The modern version of the Biblical fool / foolish. These scriptures show God’s attitude towards stupidity: Pro 12:15 The way of a fool (stupid person) is right in his own eyes, But a wise man is he who listens to counsel. Pro 14:16 …. A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool (stupid person) is arrogant and careless. Pro 19:3 ….. The foolishness (stupidity) of man ruins his way, and his heart rages against the LORD.

On this website you will see the word “stupid” used quite freely. It is not because that is my normal tone of speech when speaking face to face with someone. But neither is a waste of words when simple talk will do.

This being the internet and part of the theme of this site being guns, gun owners and shooting, stupidity could be deadly. So, on this site, there can be no doubt what something is when it is……stupid. So, that’s the way it is labeled.

HUMILITY: The Christian acknowledgement that all their gifts, abilities and opportunities come from God, and the privilege of using them in His service means the opposite of pride (Biblical arrogance).

Not to be confused with timidity or lack of confidence. Biblical humility is protection from self destruction: Pro 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling.

ABORTION: The clinical, intentional, killing of live unborn human beings. = Murder.

RIGHTS: For The Christian, rights are inferior to Biblical responsibility. While Christians should be thankful for rights, having those rights should not be an excuse to waive Biblical commands. For a Christian, if exercising any right means putting them in a Biblically immoral position, that right should be rejected in favor of the Biblical mandate.

It is generally the belief of Christians who hold a fully Biblical world view, that the U.S. Constitution and bill of rights were framed under the guiding hand of Almighty God. The rights afforded to U.S. citizens includes the right to keep and bear arms – the intent of which is verified many times over by subsequent statements by the framers of the Constitution.
