There is no such thing as a concealed carry permit in South Africa

To be a legal gun owner in South Africa one must be in possession of a competency certificate issued by the SAPS CFR and then obtain a license for whatever firearm they wish to have, This license is all one needs to own and carry a firearm as a self defense firearms. All requirements’ to legally own a firearm, the carrying and legal use of the firearm would be explained when training and successfully completing an exam before being issued with a competency certificate. Only after the issuing of a competency certificate is a firearms license given.

The following are demographics from the USA but are used to show the reduction in crime when the numbers of legal gun owners increases. To date there is no compiled date in South Africa of the successful use of a legally owned self defense firearm. This is due to a controlled media and anti gun editorial policy. They don’t want people to know it works.
